Job Description

This position requires in-depth knowledge and experience on VeritySEM, SEMVision, and Inspection systems. The Customer Support Engineer will provide technical support via on site, phone, or email, to diagnose problems and make appropriate repairs for the equipment to minimize production impact. The position requires the ability to solve complex problems under pressure and have a new perspective using existing solutions. The chosen individual will work independently with limited guidance and within broad guidelines and technical standards. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience, and use best-known practices with a clear understanding of the importance of internal and external business relationships to improve products or services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will act as an intermediary, and field escalation focal point between the customer and Headquarters by providing technical support and documentation to field service engineers, technicians and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging equipment.
  • Will be a source of technical knowledge and support during development and/or testing of new upgrades for hardware, process, or software design in house, or on an engineering system.
  • Will be responsible for all technical support-related aspects for a specific customer, e.g., escalations, system installations, improvement programs, and upgrades.

Functional Knowledge

  • Must be flexible, adaptable, possess a high sense of integrity, and must respect and enforce the confidential aspects of their work.
  • Will work effectively with cross-functional teams and have excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • The individual must have strong conceptual and practical knowledge of AMAT Metrology or MRI Systems, from installation maintenance/repair, to troubleshooting at both the assembly and system level.

Qualifications 

  • Technical proficiency with AMAT Metrology Systems.
  • Advanced level of technical knowledge of electronics in the semiconductor industry, with the ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience using computer applications, word processing, and spreadsheets with strong computer skills on Apple and/or Microsoft platforms.

Experience 

  • A minimum of 6 years of semiconductor experience is preferred, with a minimum of four (4+) years experience specifically in AMAT metrology equipment.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience on AMAT metrology systems: VeritySEM, SEMVision and/or AMAT inspection systems.
  • Knowledge of the Applied Materials CD-SEM VeritySEM product line.
  • Knowledge of the Applied Materials DR-SEM SEMVision product line.
  • Knowledge of the Applied Materials Inspection Compass or Complus product line

Job Description 

Field service engineer will offer technical support over phone, email or travel to customer location to diagnose problems and make appropriate repairs for the equipment under contract in order to minimize production impact. The Field Service Engineer troubleshoots either to resolve issues directly or through referring advanced issues to technical support at HQ. He/she acts as a customer service advocate, instructing customers in the operation and maintenance of the system. The work is in a fast-paced environment, travels frequently and occasionally required to be accessible evenings, weekends, and even holidays to resolve any issues that might result in downtime for customer. The chosen individual will work well with limited guidance and within broad guidelines and technical standards

Duties and Responsibilities 

· Analyzes, diagnoses, and troubleshoots semiconductor metrology equipment problems via telephone, email, at customer site or at GTi HQ
· Performs installation, repair, retrofits, upgrades and preventive maintenance on Semiconductor metrology equipment installed at customer sites or supporting manufacturing efforts at GTi HQ
· Answer customer questions and assist customer in a professional manner and expediently escalate issues to supporting resources when necessary.
· Perform administrative and coordination duties, including pass-downs, work orders, field service reports, system problem reports, and monthly reports. Prepare written technical reports ad documentation on an independent basis.
· Complies with company and customer policies and procedures.

    · Perform administrative and coordination duties, including pass-downs, work orders, field service reports, system problem reports, and monthly reports. Prepare written technical reports ad documentation on an independent basis.
    · Understand and incorporate safe work practices, adherence to specifications and checklists, standard work, lean processing, as well as 5S methodology
    · Complies with company policies and procedures.

  • As a minimum requirement, the candidate must possess a STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering or Mathematics) associates degree or bachelor’s degree or Mechanical or Technical certification or related semiconductor manufacturing with 6+ months experience or equivalent military training
    · As preferred qualification the candidate has 6+ months of prior experience in Electronics, equipment troubleshooting, installation, repair and operation of wafer fab or assembly test tools
    · Use of electrical and/or mechanical measuring devices such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, calipers and/or micrometers
    · Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, mechanical drawings
    · Work on and repair mechanical and/or electrical equipment systems
    · Technical proficiency with Semiconductor AMAT metrology equipment, plasma and/or vacuum systems is preferred.
    · Demonstrate experience using computer applications, word processing, spreadsheets with strong computer skills on Apple and/or Microsoft platform
